Electrical Utility Workers – Apprenticeship Opportunities

The types of electrical utility workers the JATC is currently offering apprenticeships in are the following:

Substation Wireman

A substation wireman continues the inside work of the lineman. When the lineman has completed his work at the substation, the wireman begins performing his duties.

Outside Lineman

The fundamental job of outside lineman is to build and install the distribution and transmission lines that supply power from the power plant to businesses and homes.

Meterman

Meterman are an important part of the circle of electrical utility workers. In order to efficiently distribute electricity, the meters feeding the electricity must be operating properly. Meterman ensure that meters are installed, tested and adequately maintained.

Transformer Technician

Transformer technicians carry the responsibility of issuing the proper transformers to installation crews along with their primary duties of testing, repair and maintenance.
